1955 Eddie Matthews

Well, I haven't posted in a while, didn't realize it had been that long.  I went to a local card show 3 weeks ago and bought 1955 Ed Matthews and 2 1957 cards for $100.  I also bought a box of Heritage nothing too special in that one.  I also spend $35 at Walmart for  Heritage and Series 2 Topps.

I found a new site I am going to try to use to trade some cards that I need.  TheBench, hopefully it ends up being a good site seems like it will.

A few eBay buys

Well I have been updating my baseball card buys on time, but I just realized that I haven't updated some of my Jason Kidd collection buys.

Over the past few months I have bought 4 auctions on eBay.
The first was 427 cards I paid $4.99 plus 7.99 shipping, for a total of 12.98.  I wasn't impressed by this lot, there were alot of multiples in her.  I was expecting some, you can't buy that many cards and not get them.  But this one had 7-10 of a few cards.

The second was 3 jersey cards, I paid $1.00 plus $3.00 shipping for a total of $4.00.  Very pleased with this lot, three jersey cards that I did not have.

The third was 215 cards for $10.50 and 5.95 for shipping, for a total of $16.45.  I really liked this lot, I saw some cards that I did not have, so that is why I bought this lot.

The fourth was 2 phone cards from his rookie year.  $.99 and $3.00 shipping. I saw this a the last minute and had to check to make sure I didn't have them. A quick check and I didn't so I put in a bid and won.  There are also 10 other phone cards of different players, so I maybe putting them back up on eBay or try to see if I can trade them.

This summer I am planning on working on my Kidd collection and getting a better I idea of what I have.  I haven't updated it in a while, so need to do that.  I am working on putting on together a checklist to use on my computer.

A few new packs...

Well I checked out the new card shop on Saturday.  I had to work and then went bowling.  There is a new card shop next to it.  So I decided to stop in.  I wasn't overly impressed.  Lots of autos for sale, lots of Jordans, not alot of packs or vintage.

I did buy 3 packs of 2012 Topps and 2012 Topps Heritage each.  I didn't pull much, I think I had 2 of the 2012 Topps that I didn't already have.  Nothing special in the Heritage, but I do like the Heritage cards.  In fact I bought a box from DAcardworld.com that I am looking forward to opening.

Introduction

I will be updating my purchases for sports cards on this blog.  Both new and vintage cards.  I am creating this so that I can keep track of how much some of my cards cost me.  Then I can look back later and decide if I made good or bad purchases.

A little background on my collecting history.  I started collecting cards as a child, at the age of 6 or seven.  I started with baseball and basketball.  I would stick to mostly Topps  and  Hoops for a few years and then collected some Fleer, Upper Deck, and Donruss.  Around '94, I got out of collecting and I was only buying a few packs a year.  Then right about '02-03 I started collecting again, I was making a little money with a 10hr. job.  I was sticking to mostly basketball. During the '03-'04 season (Lebron's rookie year) I really started getting back in, buying multiple boxes.  Around this time I also started a collection of Jason Kidd cards.  He was my favorite NBA player since his rookie year.  Then my buying of boxes and packs went down and I started focusing more on my Kidd collections.

In 2009, I started getting back into collecting baseball again as well, focusing on Topps and Topps Heritage.  I have stopped collecting basketball except for Jason Kidd, and a few packs here and there.

In August of 2010, I purchase about 2000 cards from one of my parents' friend.  I paid $7000 dollars for these.  In the collection were cards from 1952-1971, and then some big Donruss cards from the '80s.  The majority of these cards were in the 1954-1957 years and then 1971.  The majority of the cards are Topps with a decent number of Bowman.

Since this purchase I have enjoyed adding to this collection including completing the 1954 Topps series.  I am currently working on completing the 1955, 1956, 1957 Topps complete sets.

Here is my current progress on all sets up to 1958:
Topps 1952    48/487   10%
Topps 1953  138/274   50%

Topps 1956  305/340   90%
Topps 1957  149/407   37%
Topps 1958  108/534   20%
Topps 1959    52/572     9%
Topps 1960      9/572     2%
Topps 1961    13/587     2%
Topps 1962     6/689      1%
Topps 1963     2/576     .3%
